ELVIS

Born Elvis Aaron Presley in Tupelo, Mississippi, January 8, 1935, his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948.  He began his singing career at Sun Records in 1954.  RCA purchased his contract from Sun in 1955 for $35,000 plus $5,000 in back royalties for Elvis.

Elvis Presley had 111 RIAA certified gold & platinum records, starred in 31 featured films from 1956 to 1969, and for a number of years was on of Hollywood's top box office draws and on of its highest paid actors. 

Elvis has sold over 1 billion records and is regarded as one of the most important cultural figures of the 20th century.
